Safe Space Recovery Social at Breaking Bread!
U.D.T.J. will be facilitating our Safe Space Recovery Social, featuring a multitude of activities, including Journaling and Writing, Arts and Crafts, and Music Jam Sessions, at our partner Breaking Bread local shelter in Upper Darby PA. We will also be providing a free community dinner to residents!

This statewide survey highlights the unique health needs, challenges, and strengths of LGBTQIA+ communities, and your presence will help shape the conversation on how we address these needs locally.

If you’d like to support, we’re accepting hygiene items—soap, deodorant, toothbrushes, toothpaste, and more—or you can volunteer with us on-site. The BIPOC Circle

Sober Halloween Party
Join us on Halloween night, Thursday, October 31, for a substance-free celebration at the UDTJ Community Center (115 Fairfield Ave, 2nd Floor, Upper Darby, PA 19082). Expect cozy vibes, costume fun, and community connection—no alcohol or drugs, just good music, games, and plenty of treats. Come solo or with friends, meet new people, and enjoy a welcoming space for LGBTQ+, BIPOC, and allies.
What to expect:
Costume contest with sweet prizes (family-friendly looks encouraged)
Pumpkin-adjacent games, spooky playlists, and chill lounge areas
Mocktails, cider, and snacks (donations appreciated to support the Center)

Looking for a welcoming and supportive space to build community and strengthen your sober journey? Join us for our Safe Space Recovery Events at the UDTJ Community Center. These free, in-person gatherings are designed to provide connection, creativity, and mindfulness for anyone 18+ on their path to recovery.
Here’s what we offer each month:
1st Thursday: Journaling & Writing
Unleash your creativity and reflect on your journey with our Journaling & Writing session. Explore meaningful prompts and create a visual keepsake to inspire and empower your progress.
2nd Thursday: Arts & Crafts
Express yourself through hands-on creativity at our Arts & Crafts session! Enjoy a relaxed and supportive atmosphere as you explore new skills and create something special.
Giving out Community Grams and love letters to the community at 69th Street!
3rd Thursday: Music Jam Sessions
Let loose and connect through the power of music at our Music Jam Sessions! Bring your voice, an instrument, or simply your love for music, and join in this lively, collaborative experience.
Time: 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM
Where: Breaking Bread Community Shelter (In-person)
Cost: Free to the community

Art Therapy
Art Therapy at UDTJ aims to offer a safe space for self-expression, teach emotional regulation through art, develop skills that boost self esteem, foster community and support, and provide mental health support.
This event is free and open to the public. Supplies are provided!

Art Therapy
Join us at the U.D.T.J. Community Center for a collaborative art and writing program where we’ll create a Community Literary Magazine featuring poetry, short stories, artwork, and affirmations made by participants during the sessions. This magazine will serve as a collective expression of creativity, identity, and community uplifting voices that often go unheard and celebrating the many perspectives that make our community strong.
All participants will have the opportunity to contribute their work to the published magazine, which will be shared locally as a reflection of our shared creativity. Sessions will be co-facilitated by Mo the Poet (writing) and Ashlie Alexis (visual arts), local artists passionate about empowering others through creative expression.
Workshops will be held at the U.D.T.J. Community Center (115 Fairfield Ave, 2nd Floor, Upper Darby, PA) from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM. Parking is available across the street, and we are accessible by trolley, bus, and regional rail.
Poetry sessions will take place on Wednesday, July 16, Wednesday, August 6, and Wednesday, September 17.
Art sessions will be held on Wednesday, July 30, Wednesday, August 20, and Wednesday, September 10.
